Politics of Conflict and Cooperation in Eurasia

Politics of Conflict and Cooperation in Eurasia

Editors: Ozgur Tufekci, Husrev Tabak, Rahman Dag

Book Description

This volume examines the contemporary dynamics of conflict and cooperation in Eurasia, focusing on interdependencies, partnerships, and contestations in regional security, energy, democratic transition, and trade. More broadly, it seeks to understand the outcomes of post-Soviet regional transformation and the intra- and inter-regional integrative or dismantling interactions that make regional countries hopeful or pessimistic about the future of their immediate and extended neighbourhood within contemporary Eurasia.

The contributions here outline contemporary strategies of individual states regarding cooperation, on the one hand, and unavoidable conflicts in both bilateral relations and at the regional level, on the other. With reference to Central Eurasia, the chapters examine the root causes and transitive character of conflict and cooperation, regional security dynamics and competing security complexes, and rising powers’ increasing involvement in the equation favouring cooperation via trade.

As such, this book offers a clearer understanding of the issues and challenges the wider Eurasian region currently faces.

Eurasian Politics and Society: Issues and Challenges

Eurasian Politics and Society: Issues and Challenges

Editors: Ozgur Tufekci, Husrev Tabak, Erman Akilli

Book Description

Eurasian Politics and Society: Issues and Challenges examines the outcomes of regional transformation, Turkish Eurasianist ideology, and the Eurasian Economic Union. It examines the power struggle in the South Caucasus, Kazakhstan’s relations with Russia, Russia’s sense of Eurasianism, and geopolitical awareness as a pattern of imperial self-perception in Putin’s Russia. The book also provides a detailed humanitarian analysis of the situation in Syria and uses an innovative approach to explore how the European Neighbourhood Policy resonates in Neo/Functionalism.

As such, this volume is a valuable resource for graduate and undergraduate students, academics, and researchers in security, political economy, European studies, post-Soviet studies, and Eurasian studies.
